About the Utilities Division
The Utilities Division is responsible for the oversight, management, and maintenance of the water, wastewater and storm water infrastructure for the City of Huntington Beach. This includes 630 miles of water pipeline, 9 wells and 4 reservoirs, 360 miles of wastewater pipeline, 10,000 manholes, 27 wastewater lift stations, 114 miles of storm water pipeline, 5.3 miles of open channels and 16 flood control stations. City employees run the Utilities Division's following sections: Administration, Water Quality, Production, Distribution, Wastewater and Water Conservation. 
The Utilities Division takes an active role in local and regional water issues. The City is a member agency of the Municipal Water District of Orange County, which provides "imported" water from the Colorado River and the State Water Project via the Metropolitan Water District of Southern California.
